Things to look at for choosing your perfect toilet seat replacement:  

1. Shape – it is important that the shape of the replacement seat is similar to the shape of your toilet bowl.

The most common toilet bowl shapes in Australia are:

• Oval / Elongated Shape
• D Shaped / U Shaped

2. Measurements - your toilet pan needs to be within 3 points (A, B & C) of measurements of the replacement seat as per toilet seat size chart above:

A – the distance between two toilet pan holes

B – the distance between the middle of two toilet pan holes and the front centre of the bowl 

C – the width of the toilet pan at its widest point

Please Note:

• MUZT Toilet seat comes with adjustable hinges – they can be adjusted from left to right, back and forth for Point A & Point B to fit different pan sizes.
• Ideally the toilet seat is slightly over the edges of your toilet pan to be more hygienic.

3. Fixing type – there are two common types of fixings depending on the type of your toilet, please ensure you choose the right fixing.

• Top/Blind fixing- screwing from the top. If your hands cannot reach the toilet hole/bolt from underneath then your toilet is a top/blind fixing type.
• Bottom fixing– hand screwing from underneath the toilet hole. this is a traditional style of fixing. If your hands can reach your toilet hole/bolt from underneath then your toilet is a bottom fixing type.

Please Note:

• Top/Blind fixing toilet seat is suitable for both top/blind fixing and bottom fixing toilet. Such as MUZT Quick Release Soft Close Toilet Seat.
• Bottom fixing toilet seat is only suitable for bottom fixing toilet.Such as MUZT Multifunction 2 in 1 Family Toilet Seat.

What if my toilet pan holes are smaller than the nylon expansion bolts when installing?

When installing a top/blind fixing toilet seat, you will need to push the nylon expansion bolt all the way into the toilet pan hole.

Some toilet pan holes are smaller than the standard size hole although it is quite rare. As a result, the nylon expansion bolt cannot be pushed in.

If your hands can reach the bottom of the your toilet pan hole, there is a way to get around it by following the steps below:

1. Instead of pushing the nylon expansion bolt into the hole, put the stainless-steel screw through the washer and hinge base then insert the screw into the toilet pan hole.
2. Screw the nylon expansion bolt back onto the stainless steel Screw from underneath the toilet pan hole. Firmly tighten the screw from the top then you can see the expansion bolt fully expanded when tightened. Please click here to see the before & after installation picutres of the expension bolt. 

By doing it this way, you don’t need to push the expansion bolt into the toilet hole but achieve the same result.  

What is the minimum angle for a toilet seat cover to sit properly?

The minimum angle for a toilet seat cover to sit properly against the cistern or the wall is 93 degrees. This allows the seat to gently rest against the cistern or wall and not fall forward.
